Solvej Balle: Tilavuuden laskemisesta III (Om udregning af rumfang #3)

Seuraava osa sarjassa, jossa Tara on jäänyt jumiin marraskuiseen tavalliseen päivään.

The next book in the series in which Tara is stuck in an ordinary day in November. She has now discovered other people who are trapped in the same day. They lead lives of their own to some extent and can spend long periods elsewhere. For example, a divorced man lives with his child in the USA, experiencing the same fun-filled day with them over and over again.

Several of them move into the same house and organise themselves to some degree. One of them has made it his goal to make the day as good as possible and prevent any accidents that can be avoided. Tara also visits her spouse, but feels that she has already grown apart from him as the time spent in the time loop begins to be measured in years.

Tara continues to ponder the nature of time, the significance of history, and the meaning of life, and a fairly large portion of the book is devoted to these reflections. She also feels that she is a monster depleting the world's resources, since the food she and the others trapped in the time loop consume disappears from the shops. They try to use food that would otherwise be thrown away whenever possible, although I don't quite understand the logic behind this. Surely fewer than half a dozen people could hardly deplete the world's food supplies, even over several decades.

The book is more philosophical and contemplative than focused on events and action.

Despite the relatively few things that happen, the book is highly intriguing and just as good as the previous installments in the series.
