A sort of memorial by Will Wheaton, the former Wesley from Star Trek Next Generation. The first part of the book is an annotation of his former book, with copious footnotes. It was mildly interesting, but more than a bit whiney. He made a mistake leaving Star Trek, he made a mistake refusing a good movie deal while going to an actor’s school, and he was exploited by his parents and nearly everyone around him. After the first part, the book went downhill. We got a long description of his wife’s illness, the news of the death of his dear friend (a friend who was never mentioned before, and with no mention of who he was, or why he was important to him), a description of a surreal dream, a description of an ordinary evening and dinner with his wife, and pages of a mini golf game. Several pages about having a picture taken, and pages about playing a Magic card game with his son. Yawn. Talk about stuffing a book, those might have been events with meaning for him, but why would anyone else want to read about them in such detail? And what was the thing with footnotes? The book was next to unreadable due to these. Sometimes there were more footnotes than there was text, and most of them were apparently meant to be funny. Well, some were, some were even informative, but most were just stupid and irritating.
